At FFB Bank, we’re not just passionate about supporting businesses and professionals. We also make it our mission to support local nonprofits in everything they do to better our community. Especially on today, National Nonprofit Day, it’s more important than ever to help our local nonprofits thrive. While some of our favorite ways to support nonprofits include clothing or food drives, volunteering, and sponsoring events, there are plenty of ways that you too can help nonprofits achieve their goals!

Donate Your Time

One of the best ways to support a nonprofit is by donating your time and volunteering! For many nonprofits, you can find a number of volunteer opportunities simply by visiting their website or even calling and speaking to a staff member. Once you find the opportunity that’s right for you, you can choose to participate as often as you’d like depending on your schedule. For those of you who are business owners, you can also encourage employees to volunteer by creating a corporate social responsibility program or even by allowing PTO for volunteering opportunities.

Put Your Skills to the Test

If you’re interested in volunteering for a nonprofit and you have a special skill to show off, why not do both? For instance, if you’re a graphic designer, you can help a nonprofit make flyers! If you’ve got previous fundraising experience, why not use those skills to help a nonprofit raise money? Plus if you have a specialty such as hairdressing or cooking, consider using those skills to give out haircuts or cook some meals for a homeless shelter. You can even reach out to local nonprofits and offer to educate staff or members in your area of expertise!

Spread the Word

Word-of-mouth marketing can be incredibly powerful – especially for nonprofits. If there’s a nonprofit whose message really resonates with you, then feel free to share it with your friends and family! You can even get personal if you’d like and talk about why you support their cause or how this organization has directly impacted your life. By sharing the message with those around you, it could encourage others to get involved and even make its way to someone who needs the nonprofit’s help.

Use the Power of Social Media

Social media is a great way to connect with a large network of people – and a great way to spread awareness of nonprofits. By following a nonprofit on social media and resharing their posts with your own followers, you can help boost its reach and introduce the organization to people who may have never heard of it before. You can also share details about the nonprofit’s upcoming events or fundraisers to encourage your followers to donate, participate, or volunteer. Again, by sharing the message with a larger network of people, you may be able to reach someone who genuinely needs access to that nonprofit’s resources.

Support an Event

At FFB Bank, we’re no strangers to sponsoring events for nonprofits. If you too are a business owner, consider picking up a sponsorship as well! Sure it’s a good way to get your business’s name out there, but more than that it’s an opportunity to fund a nonprofit’s efforts so that they can continue to help your community. For those of you who aren’t business owners, you can also support events simply by buying a ticket and attending! Like a sponsorship, the proceeds from that ticket sale will go on to help nonprofits continue in their important work. Plus, you can always spread the message and encourage others to attend too!

Donate Goods

It’s pretty common to see nonprofits hosting clothing drives, food drives, or other donation fundraisers. Next time you see one being advertised, consider joining in on the effort! The can of food that you donate or the coat that you provide at wintertime can make a world of difference for a person being helped by a nonprofit. Of course, you don’t need to wait for a nonprofit to throw a fundraiser before donating goods. Feel free to call your favorite nonprofit and ask if they’re in need of anything. Once this is done, you can then donate some of the items on their list. What’s more, if you’re a business owner you can even host a donation drive on behalf of the nonprofit or consider donating some of your products and services throughout the year.

Donate Money

While there are plenty of ways to support nonprofits for free, monetary donations are always appreciated. After all, many nonprofits rely on your generosity to continue doing the inspiring work that they do. If you’re able to, consider setting up a recurring donation each month or donating annually and increasing the amount that you give every year. Don’t forget – a little goes a long way. Even if you’re a one-time donator or you donate year-round, a nonprofit will appreciate whatever amount of money you’re able to give whenever you’re able to give it.

Summary

Our local nonprofits put in a lot of hard work to provide members of our community with access to necessary resources. With all their efforts to improve the world around us, it’s only fair that we show them support in return. Whether you decide to donate money, goods, or time, or even if you do something as simple as reshare a nonprofit’s post on social media, your actions can make a big difference in helping that organization continue their important work. So why not look into some of the opportunities we’ve mentioned and start helping your local nonprofits today!
